After the harvest cleaning
You will need to be sure that you get all the roots out of nooks and crannies, when it comes time for you to clean your AeroGarden.
How will you clean the aerogarden thoroughly of roots?
One handy household item is the toothpick.
You may need to use a toothpick or similar type of tool to get into tight small areas. Tweezers can be helpful.
Because the roots go wild and fill every spot they can you will have to be diligent in removing the growth.
The roots can even plug up areas that need to have a flow of your nutrient water such as the lid or the pump area.
Therefore, this is something that you will need to check out as your plants grow. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble, but it is not. In fact, it is less trouble than dealing with outdoor gardening.
I really do not cut the roots from anything in between plantings; I have but I do not make a practice of it.
You might consider trimming the roots on plants if you let them grow for years in the aerogarden.
I personally have had plants grow for 2 years or more.
I keep a log.
Were they as productive as a younger plant? Sometimes not because I neglected them usually. I get so busy.
I might do a tutorial on trimming the roots of growing plants in the aerogarden.
I bleach the reservoir in between each planting.
I usually completely clean the Aerogarden between harvests.
I add the proper amount of bleach, let soak after the initial cleaning of roots, and used water.
Then I scrub it out.
After that, I run the bleach water through according to the Aerogarden’s instruction manual.
I usually mingle the cleaning project with other things I am doing during the week. You will soon have a clean aerogarden ready for replanting.
